Explore your story through music

Music Therapist

Hi, my name is Susie.

I am an HCPC registered music therapist providing music therapy services in and around Abingdon, Oxfordshire. I have worked in the NHS for many years with children, young people, and families, supporting them to thrive and develop their unique ways of being and communicating.

I work with children, young people and adults. My approach is client-centred, neurodiversity affirming, and trauma informed.

I am here to help you explore your story through music.

Testimonials

  • “The work you have done with Chloe* has been outstanding. Her confidence and ability to talk about things has really opened up.

It has opened up a huge amount of communication that she wasn’t able to access before. It’s amazing to see the difference in her. She was quite grumpy – she would just communicate in a series of grunts and now she wants to talk and she has the words. She has become more open to the fact that things aren’t black and white. She’s not so insular and is starting to accept that there are other points of view and other thoughts.

[Music Therapy] has been a fantastic part of Chloe’s* journey. She no longer relies on me to make decisions for her - she will come up to me and suggest things she wants to do.”

  • “You gave me great ideas for tapping into his potential through song, but mostly, I just loved the way you worked with him and honoured his uniqueness. I have never wanted Ben* to change or be different, just to be happy and thrive. You also acknowledged that and just took him exactly as he is. He didn’t have to conform or do what you had planned. You were fast thinking and tailored the session to whatever he was showing an interest in - be that tapping the radiator, standing at the door or hiding behind the piano. Every session was different and that was what made it fun!”

  • “I didn't know what to expect from music therapy to be honest, or how it could help him, but it really has.

He’s really come out of his shell

    which is wonderful to see.”

  • “I really like it, it’s really fun”

Autistic and ADHD 8 year old

  • “I can see how she verbalises her feelings more than she did before. I’m hearing her talk more, not seeing the outbursts. Even with her older sister she’s talking back and not getting angry. I do see a change in her speech too, in both her receptive and expressive communication.”
